Variation 3: Nero di seppia

I know, it’s definitely not pretty is it. But it does happen to be one of Venice’s most famous dishes:spaghetti al nero di seppia, or squid ink spaghetti. If you want to know how to make it, here’s how: It’s a full on fishy salty earthy experience, so full on that the person who ordered this one only ate a quarter of it. And it does make your mouth black. And here is a bitmap of the same photo that I will make into an etching tomorrow, which looks far more polite and abstract:

I had that at Jamie Oliver’s Italian in Guildford last week…it was delicious and I loved it! But I’d rather have eaten it in Venice!
Back to Somerset reality…Two creative and productive days at the studio. And my acid worked a dream! Not so many came but that was just perfect…

    I love ’em!!!!

  3. Glad to see you are etching food too – I have just started on a series based on photos taken in posh french restaurants. Obviously I will need to take a look at some Venice resto shots too!. Perhaps its something we can look at at the Dove? See you VERY SOON!. Ros xxx
